NaCSA Participates in ECOWAS Regional Meeting on Return and Reintegration in Accra, Ghana...
The National Commission for Social Action (NaCSA) is participating in the Meeting of the Migration Dialogue for West Africa (MIDWA) Return and Reintegration Technical Working Group, taking place in Accra, Ghana, from 13–15 October 2026, with Programme Officer Harold Deige representing the Commission.
The meeting, convened by the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) Commission, brings together representatives of ECOWAS Member States, ECOWAS institutions, the International Organization for Migration (IOM) and other relevant partners to strengthen regional cooperation on migration management, particularly the safe, dignified and sustainable return and reintegration of migrants.
The engagement provides a platform for participating countries to share experiences, exchange good practices and identify emerging challenges in the management of migrant return and reintegration.
Discussions also focus on strengthening coordination among Member States and relevant institutions, improving information sharing, and promoting harmonised approaches that protect the rights and dignity of returning migrants.
Key objectives of the meeting include revitalising the MIDWA Return and Reintegration Technical Working Group, reviewing and validating its Terms of Reference, and developing a work plan to guide its future activities. These efforts are intended to strengthen institutional collaboration and support practical, coordinated responses to migration-related challenges across the West African region.
NaCSA’s participation reflects the Commission’s engagement in regional dialogue and cooperation on migration and reintegration issues. The meeting also presents an opportunity to exchange knowledge and approaches that can inform national efforts to support returning migrants and promote their socioeconomic reintegration.
Through its representation at this regional meeting, NaCSA continues to engage with relevant regional and international stakeholders in discussions aimed at strengthening cooperation and advancing sustainable reintegration approaches within the ECOWAS region.
