*Taiama, Moyamba District, 10th July 2026*

The township of Taiama came alive with excitement, gratitude and vibrant cultural performances as the National Commission for Social Action (NaCSA), on behalf of the Government of Sierra Leone, has officially handed over a number of completed community infrastructure projects to the people of Taiama, Mokonde and Forlah, marking another milestone in the Government's drive to improve livelihoods through sustainable rural development under the Community Driven Development Programme (CDDP)

The ceremony was attended by NaCSA Commissioner Ambassador Ernest Mbaimba Ndomahina, Deputy Commissioner Dr. Susan Robert, the Minister of Planning and Economic Development Kenyeh Barlay, the Chairman of NaCSA, the Resident Minister, the Paramount Chief of Taiama Chiefdom, CDDP Programme Manager Patrick Lebbie and technical team, traditional leaders, community stakeholders, schoolchildren and hundreds of residents.

The projects handed over included the rehabilitation of the *Taiama Type B Market*, the rehabilitation and expansion of *MDEC Primary School*, the rehabilitation of the *Community Court House*, and the construction of *four solar-powered boreholes* with modern water supply systems. These investments are expected to improve access to education, clean water, justice services and economic opportunities for the beneficiary communities.

The event was characterised by colourful traditional dances, cultural performances and songs of thanksgiving as residents celebrated what many described as a life-changing intervention. The excitement displayed by schoolchildren, women and community members reflected their appreciation for the Government's continued investment in local development.

Delivering the keynote address on behalf of His Excellency the President of the Republic of Sierra Leone, Dr. Julius Maada Bio, Commissioner Ambassador Ernest Mbaimba Ndomahina said the projects represent the Government's unwavering commitment to improving the lives of Sierra Leoneans. He emphasized that, unlike many development initiatives financed by development partners, these projects were fully funded by the Government of Sierra Leone, demonstrating its determination to invest directly in the welfare of its people. He also called on beneficiaries to take ownership of the facilities by protecting and maintaining them for future generations.

In her remarks, Deputy Commissioner Dr. Susan Robert commended the communities for their cooperation throughout the implementation process and reaffirmed NaCSA's commitment to delivering quality infrastructure that responds to the needs of communities across the country. She encouraged residents to safeguard the facilities to ensure they continue to serve generations to come.

The Minister of Planning and Economic Development, Kenyeh Barlay, praised NaCSA for effectively implementing the Government's development agenda and reaffirmed the Ministry's commitment to supporting initiatives that promote inclusive growth and improve the quality of life of citizens. Speaking on behalf of the beneficiary communities, the Paramount Chief of Taiama Chiefdom expressed profound appreciation to President Julius Maada Bio, the Government of Sierra Leone and NaCSA for bringing meaningful development to the area, and pledged the community's commitment to maintaining the facilities.

The successful handover of the projects reflects NaCSA's continued role in translating Government policies into tangible development outcomes. As celebrations continued, the people of Taiama, Mokonde and Forlah expressed renewed hope and confidence that these investments will improve lives, strengthen local development and leave a lasting legacy for future generations.
