IOM HEAD OF OFFICE FOR SIERRA LEONE PAYS COURTESY CALL ON NaCSA....



A delegation from International Organization for Migration (IOM)-Sierra Leone led by the Head of Office, Christos Christodoulides has on Wednesday, 22 November 2023 paid a courtesy visit to NaCSA.


The purpose of the visit was to familiarize the New NaCSA Commissioner, Amb. Ernest Mbaimba Ndomahina on the operations of IOM in Sierra Leone and to foster the existing relationship between the two organizations.



The Head of Office gave an overview of IOM operations in the country including the Combatting Irregular Migration through Youth Empowerment and Community Engagement Project. This Project, he noted aims at contributing to reducing the push factors towards rural to urban and irregular migration through an inclusive and gender responsive approach to enhancing job creation and livelihood opportunities for youth in Sierra Leone.



In his contribution, the Commissioner of NaCSA, Amb Ernest Mbaimba Ndomahina commended the delegation from IOM for the visit and reinforced NaCSA’s commitment to jointly implement the project. Amb. Ndomahina spoke on the importance to develop a roadmap for the pilot phase of the project and echoed the need to involve the Presidential Adviser on Youths affairs, the Ministry of Youth Affairs and the National Youths Commission in the launching of the Project.



In attendance were the NaCSA Deputy Commissioner, Sir Jimmy Batilo Songa and team of NaCSA Management while the IOM Head of Office was accompanied by his National Project Officer, Mangeh Sesay and Senior Project Assitant, Brima Bendu.



With IOM Sierra Leone and the National Commission for Social Action (NaCSA) as executing agencies, the project is expected to commence early December, 2023 and will be implemented for 24 months period.
