Freetown, Sierra Leone* *August 19, 2025** – The Islamic Development Bank (IsDB), in partnership with the National Commission for Social Action (NaCSA), has successfully concluded an assessment and monitoring mission for the Sierra Leone Community-Driven Development Project Phase II (SLCDD II).
The mission commenced with a review meeting at NaCSA’s Head Office in Freetown, where the IsDB team engaged with NaCSA leadership and technical staff to review project progress and implementation strategies.
On Thursday August 14, 2025. The mission team, accompanied by the Commissioner of NaCSA, embarked on field visits to Moyamba and Bonthe Districts. The Commissioner, who represented His Excellency President Dr. Julius Maada Bio and his BIG FIVE GAME CHANGER initiative, joined the IsDB delegation in inspecting project sites and engaging directly with community beneficiaries.
The field visits provided an opportunity to evaluate the impact of SLCDD II interventions, including infrastructure development, livelihood support, and access to social services. Communities expressed appreciation for the project’s role in transforming rural development and improving living standards.
In his remarks, NaCSA Commissioner-Ambassador Ernest Mbaimba Ndomahina emphasized the importance of SLCDD II in supporting the President’s BIG FIVE GAME CHANGERS initiative, particularly in promoting his vision for inclusive rural development, human capital development, economic growth, and that of improved service delivery. He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to working with international partners like IsDB to drive sustainable development at the community level.
Representatives from the IsDB commended NaCSA for its leadership and strong coordination in the implementation of SLCDD II. They also reaffirmed the Bank’s support to the Government of Sierra Leone in advancing inclusive growth and poverty reduction.
The SLCDD II project, jointly funded by the Islamic Development Bank and the Government of Sierra Leone, empowers communities to identify, plan, and implement development priorities tailored to their needs, thereby fostering ownership, accountability, and sustainability.
The Commissioner remains deeply grateful for this project, which is not just building infrastructure, but transforming rural lives. It is opening doors of opportunity, improving livelihoods, and uplifting the standards of living of our people. This is the true essence of development — one that touches the lives of ordinary Sierra Leoneans. Together, we reaffirm our commitment to sustain this progress and to ensure that no community is left behind in our journey towards national transformation.
