NaCSA and KfW's New 21-Meter Span Bridge Transforms Connectivity in Soriebolomiya Village...

In a significant improvement to rural infrastructure and community safety, a new 21-meter span bridge has been constructed in Soriebolomiya Village, funded by the German Financial Cooperation through the KfW Development Bank and NaCSA. This new bridge replaces a decades-old structure that had become a hazard to life and mobility.

Built to modern engineering standards, the new bridge marks a pivotal moment for the village. For many years, the old crossing—narrow, unstable, and prone to flooding—posed serious risks to pedestrians and transport. Despite its dangers, the old bridge held deep symbolic value for the community, as many residents saw it as a monument to the village’s resilience and history.

*"This bridge carried our stories and struggles," said one elder from the village. "We grew up watching our parents cross it. But we also buried friends who didn’t make it across safely."*

The newly constructed 21-meter span bridge now provides a safe and reliable passage over the river, ensuring uninterrupted access to schools, markets, health centers, and neighboring communities. Designed to withstand seasonal flooding and heavy use, the bridge significantly enhances the safety and economic prospects of the region.

This project was made possible through the generous support of the German Financial Cooperation, implemented via NaCSA as part of its rural development initiatives. The collaboration reflects Germany’s ongoing commitment to sustainable infrastructure and poverty alleviation in underserved regions.

*"This is more than just concrete and steel—it is a lifeline, a promise kept, and a foundation for future development."*

The construction process involved local labor and community participation, fostering a sense of ownership and pride among residents. Beyond improving physical access, the bridge symbolizes a pathway to a better future for Soriebolomiya.

As the village looks ahead, the legacy of the old bridge is not forgotten, but its replacement stands as a testament to progress, partnership, and hope.
