On Wednesday, March 12, 2025, the National Commission for Social Action (NaCSA) successfully concluded a stakeholders meeting focused on the expansion of the Pro Poor Growth for Peace Consolidation and Youth Employment (GPCYE) Project. This initiative is funded by the German Government and the Government of Sierra Leone and aims to extend its reach to Moyamba and Bonthe districts.

During the meeting, Paramount Chief Foday Momoh Guluma Ist warmly welcomed attendees and underscored the willingness and readiness of his chiefdom and the greater Moyamba district to engage with the project. He emphasized that as one of the largest districts in the country, Moyamba faces significant challenges regarding transportation infrastructure. *"With the GPCYE's intervention, we aim to effectively link our farmers to the markets, provide vital transportation between the mainland and the islands, and facilitate smoother movement of goods and services,"* he stated. Chief Guluma assured participants that his community would actively support the project's implementation to ensure its success.

Ambassador Ernest Mbaimba Ndomahina, the Commissioner of NaCSA, reiterated His Excellency Dr. Julius Maada Bio's commitment to realizing the aspirations outlined in the Feed Salone agenda. *"We will continue to foster a strong understanding of the project's design for seamless execution. You can be assured that there is overwhelming support from both political leaders and the community for this initiative,"* he emphasized.

Salifu Mansaray, the Programme Manager for GPCYE, provided attendees with a comprehensive overview of the project. He explained that the German Government, through KFW, is committed to funding the implementation of the GPC project in three phases, leading to the current GPCYE initiative. Mansaray detailed the achievements of the previous phase (GPCIII), highlighting how NaCSA has garnered recognition for its effective project execution. He explained the structured implementation cycle of GPCYE and articulated the essential reasons for expanding the project into Moyamba and Bonthe districts.

Johaness Berners, a representative from GIZ, praised the Government of Sierra Leone for its unwavering partnership in promoting financial cooperation that aligns with national development goals. He noted that the objectives of GPCYE fit squarely within the Feed Salone agenda, which aims to boost agricultural productivity and create meaningful job opportunities for the youth.

*"The successful implementation of this project hinges on adequate funding, which is essential for realizing long-term economic benefits. GPCYE is distinctive in that its objectives are closely aligned with our national development framework. We hope for further expansion to Bo district and other regions in the future,"* stated Paul B. Demby, the Director of Feeder Roads at the Sierra Road Authority.

The Honorable Elmond George of Constituency 097 expressed his sincere gratitude to both the German Government and the Government of Sierra Leone for their ongoing support of the initiative. He assured all stakeholders that he and his team would closely monitor the project’s implementation to ensure that the outlined objectives are successfully achieved.

Through this collaboration, NaCSA and its partners aim to create a lasting impact on the communities of Moyamba and Bonthe, enhancing economic opportunities and promoting sustainable growth for the youth in these regions.
