NaCSA Showcases Agricultural Impact at World Food Day Celebration in Kambia...

On October 31st, 2025, the National Commission for Social Action (NaCSA) proudly participated in the global observance of World Food Day, held in Kambia District. The event served as a powerful reminder of the importance of food security and sustainable agriculture, aligning seamlessly with Sierra Leone’s national development blueprint—the Feed Salone agenda.

NaCSA used the occasion to reaffirm its leadership in agricultural transformation through its flagship programs: the Productive Social Safety Nets and Youth Employment (PSSNYE), Sierra Leone Community Driven Development (SLCDD), Community Driven Development Project (CDDP), and the Pro-Poor Growth for Peace Consolidation and Youth Empowerment (GPCYE), among other strategic interventions.

The NaCSA exhibition booth became a focal point of the celebration, drawing admiration from dignitaries and attendees alike. The Honorable Minister of Agriculture, Musa Kpaka, was particularly struck by the quality and size of the agricultural produce on display. *“The yam I saw at the NaCSA booth remains the biggest I’ve ever seen,”* he stated with enthusiasm. *“This is a testament to the Commission’s dedication to transforming agriculture and supporting rural livelihoods under the Feed Salone initiative.”* His remarks underscored the tangible results of NaCSA’s community-based agricultural programs and their alignment with national food security goals.

Adding to the chorus of commendation, Professor Andulai Jalloh, Chief Agricultural Officer, praised NaCSA’s holistic and grassroots-driven approach. *“NaCSA’s interventions are not just about food—they’re about empowering communities to take ownership of their development,”* he emphasized. His comments highlighted the broader impact of NaCSA’s work, which integrates agriculture with social protection, infrastructure, and youth empowerment to build resilient communities.

NaCSA’s delegation was led by Sir Jimmy Batilo Songa, the outgoing Deputy Commissioner, who has been instrumental in steering many of the Commission’s recent successes. He was accompanied by Dr. Susan Robert, the newly appointed Deputy Commissioner, whose confirmation is pending parliamentary approval. Together with other senior management team members, they engaged with stakeholders, shared insights on ongoing projects, and reiterated the Commission’s unwavering commitment to inclusive development.

The World Food Day celebration in Kambia was more than a ceremonial gathering—it was a vibrant platform for collaboration, innovation, and shared purpose. NaCSA’s presence and contributions not only showcased the fruits of its agricultural initiatives but also reinforced the critical role of community-driven development in achieving food sovereignty and national prosperity.

As Sierra Leone continues to pursue the Feed Salone agenda, NaCSA remains a cornerstone institution in the country’s journey toward a hunger-free future.
