Sierra Leone’s SLCDD Project Showcases National Progress during IsDB Mission...

*Monday, 11th August 2025* — *Freetown, Sierra Leone* - The Commissioner of the National Commission for Social Action (NaCSA), Ambassador Ernest Mbaimba Ndomahina, together with the Project Management Unit of the Sierra Leone Community Driven Development Project (SLCDD), welcomed a high-level delegation from the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) currently in Sierra Leone for a supervisory mission.
The visit marks a significant step in reinforcing the Bank’s commitment to inclusive development and community empowerment across the country.
During the engagement, Ambassador Ndomahina reaffirmed the steadfast commitment of His Excellency Dr. Julius Maada Bio and the Government of Sierra Leone to ensuring the SLCDD project achieves its development objectives.
*“On behalf of the President, His Excellency Dr. Julius Maada Bio, I welcome you to Sierra Leone and wish you a happy stay at home,” said Ambassador Ndomahina. “You must already be familiar with our national development trajectory, and I assure you that we remain focused and steady in our efforts to make the SLCDD a success. This project is a key contributor to the achievements under the Feed Salone Agenda, and we are committed to following all established protocols and guidelines to ensure its full realization.”*
The IsDB delegation comprised: Cheikh Diouf – Field Procurement Officer, Asma Bousdira – Programme Management Specialist and Sabiu Mohamed Auwal – Operations Team Lead (OTL). Mr. Auwal, in his role as Operations Team Lead, outlined the core objectives of the mission, which include monitoring implementation progress, strengthening institutional capacity, and ensuring alignment with the project’s development targets.
A comprehensive Project Progress Report was presented by Momoh Juana, SLCDD Programme Manager, who highlighted key milestones achieved since the last supervisory mission. Juana emphasized that both the Project Implementation Unit (PIU) and NaCSA have intensified efforts to accelerate delivery and maintain momentum.
*“We’ve made significant strides since the last mission,” Juana stated. “Our teams are working tirelessly to meet the development objectives and deliver tangible impact to communities. The SLCDD is a flagship initiative that aligns with our national priorities for grassroots development. President Bio and his administration remain fully committed to its success.”*
The SLCDD project, supported by IsDB, is designed to enhance community resilience, improve access to basic services, and promote sustainable livelihoods through participatory development approaches.
The ongoing supervisory mission is expected to yield valuable insights and recommendations to further strengthen implementation and ensure long-term sustainability.
Also present during the mission were key members of the SLCDD team, including: Ismeal Koroma – Procurement Manager, Syril K. Jusu – Project Engineer, Dolly Coker – Financial Management Specialist, Ibrahim M. Koroma – Information Technology Officer, Matilda Lebbie Sellu – Monitoring and Evaluation Officer, Janet G.O. N’doinje – Grievance Redress Mechanism Officer and alongside other dedicated support staff
Their collective presence underscored the institutional commitment to transparency, accountability, and results-driven implementation.
